I asked for and got the driveline with the engine/trans from the wrecking yard. It's a 2 piece.

Not from the divorced case. The Allison was huge and I had a body lift to clear the tunnel. I had a 3" body lift but iirc I could gotten away with 1" - 2". (I had to have the body lift because of the frame I was using and what I was trying to accomplish.)

Sorry, i can't find the pic of the intermediate shaft setup. I do have a pic of a cutting brake set up on the back of the np205, btw.

You do have to work your angles, though. i.e.trans to divorced case and div case to rear and front pinions. The trans to divorced case has to have at least some angle to keep the u-joints greased. (So I've read online.)

You need to keep your angles appropriate and have the right cardan joints, etc., to keep the vibrations down and keep from wearing out u-joints. At least, that's the research I did....not sure I did it right. I sold the truck before I ever drove her.

Would have been nice to see that truck run down the road. Just the other day I was thinking about that.

I hear you.

I was just so tired. New baby, new business, no time and a garage that was packed with trucks and parts.

Re: Convert Allison 1000 5sp 2wd into 4wd

if you decide to convert the 2wd allison to 4wd then you must stand the trans up tall on its bellhousing and remove the tailshaft that way, if you remove the tailshaft housing and reinstall the new one with the trans laying down on its pan you have an extremely high chance of messing up the bearing in the back and you will not know it until it is too late and you ruin the trans.
