rebuilding vs replacing steering column

The round ring around the steering column that the gear shift goes into is real sloppy on my 69 c10 automatic. I want to replace it or have the steering column rebuilt. However, truck has a 700r4 and it currently will not shift into 1st because the gate on the column is only for a 3 speed auto. If I replace the column I want to get a column that will allow me to shift into all 4 gears. Any thoughts on rebuilding it or where to get a specific 4 speed column?

Re: rebuilding vs replacing steering column

The after market columns are made for the 4 speed auto matics. Like Ididit or Flameing river. They are expensive but I understand the quality is good & they are tilt also.
The 70 I used to have worked in all position but the indicator didn't show it.
