Need pictures of bedside fillet doors, even in progress

I'm about to start my tank relocation project on my truck.
I plan to use a side fill tank and have the filler door on the bed side behind the wheel opening.
I know many have done this, so I'm hoping there are a bunch of pictures, showing where to cut for the filler tube, and where it come up into the bed.
I scored a filler tube cover out of a newer Blazer, so I won't have to fabricate that to make it look right.
I'll post some pictures of what I have and where I plan on putting them to get, some advice from the experts

I am in the process of the same thing. I got a filler door out of a wrecked S-10 pickup. Door, filler neck, everything. I'm putting the bed together and will measure off of the filler neck. It will be just behind the fender opening (I've done this before actually). I like the little indented area behind the door for your finger. Looks very stock. Most people don't even notice you've moved it. You can adjust a couple of inches either way with the filler neck. I used exhaust pipe, bent and welded to the S-10 neck. I'll try to post pix of the first truck I've done. I'm going to do the same thing, just different color...

Thanks, I'm watching. What diameter is the filler outlet on the Blazer tank kits? The piece on the door that I got is 2"OD. I'm thinking I can get a muffler shop to fab me one to adapt to the right size.
Did you go with hard line for the whole pipe or do you have a portion of rubber tube?

I have no idea about the size of the blazer inlet. I have a custom aluminum tank (previous one was from Doc's, this one came with the frame from Scott's Hot Rods). However, the muffler shop can match the size to the rubber hose used to connect the actual filler neck to the tank. I always use a short piece of hose for the actual connection. Just be sure it's compatible with ethanol gas... I think about 6 to 8 inches will do it, just where it's close to the frame. Again, I don't know about the blazer tank. However, they can use the expander and flare the pipe to connect different size ends.. That's what I did on the last one.... And they bent the connector tube so it lined up very well. I am sure others on the site will have better ideas than I do. There is a lot of talent on this site. Well beyond my knowledge base. Sounds to me like you've got it figured out though... Good Luck!!!

not in the right location and I don't have details other than it was sitting next to the orange/black Overhaullin truck at Brothers a few years ago - snapped a pic because it was done very well (truck and filler door). Not sure what it's off of, but an idea pic anyway. Sorry - no tech details, just a pic. I never really liked the aluminum doors, and this isn't period, so that's why I have wheelwell fillers... But these do look good when done well. I thought this one looked right at home.

I not sure but I think you are talking about a fleetside bed. I'm just in the process of doing the tank relocation on my step side, but plan on installing the filler on the inside of the box. Mine will come out behind the fender, but the step side is more easily accessible than a fleetside as there is only one piece of metal to go through.

88-98 silverado/sierra and the tahoe/burb and their twins all used the same door along with the 2nd gen S10s. It's about the best one I've seen to use. As mentioned, it has the "finger hole" (giggity) it's relatively flat to match the contours on both a step and fleet side truck. I have one on my stepside and I cut one out for my fleet project (haven't installed it yet.)

That's the door I'm using too. Did you have to cut you inside bed panel to make room for the hinge? I've measured and I'm thinking I don't have to, but many pictures I've seen, guys have cut it out. But there are many different doors so maybe they needed to

There's enough room for the hinge but you have to cut the inner bedside for room for the fill tube

weren't people using the s-10 hinge and making the side marker the filler door at one time??

Yup, you can do that too, but my 67 doesn't have side markers

There's also a rear taillight fill, I think there might even be a kit available now??
