Re: CHEVROLET script emblem

Thanks Alan. That gives me a start on where to look. I'd surely pay for a piece like that.

You might check yearone.com. They have repo for several different years and have the 55-57 chev car that looks like what you're after.

off topic, but why does the heater control have four slots but only two knobs? Mine is like that and I'm just wondering if the other two slots were options I don't have? like...? AC?

The other 2 slots are for the deluxe heater (mounted in engine bay on passenger side). Fan, vent, heat, air(fresh air pulled in from cowl). The AC units mounted under the dash. The two slot unit you have is the economy heater in cab.

Awesome! Finally a good pic of an original '60-'63 glove box emblem

Do you suppose you could give us a height and length measurement?

Yeah, I had an extra one somewhere...been looking, but no luck so far. May have traded it off and forgot? Arg...or still in one of about 15 boxes. But I always keep my eyes peeled for them.

Re: CHEVROLET script emblem

I have seen them used as far back as 58 that I can verify. Heres a pic of a 58 that has one. Looks like the same year as the one you posted. They are hard to find though.

Farmer,
did you fill in the holes that were on the glove box lid from the old emblem that went there or did the new script emblem cover them? How is it held on?

Really like the way that turned out.
thanks.

Re: CHEVROLET script emblem

I welded up the old holes and drilled new ones. I had to drll holes in the back to get to the nuts that hold the emblem on.

Re: CHEVROLET script emblem

Here is another option that I found for any emblems (interior) that have the 1/8" studs. I have not tried on the exterior. They can be found for about $1 each on ebay. All you do is drill a 3/16"hole, insert the plastic insert and then press in the emblem. Very nice, easy to install & clean look. Also saves you having to drill completely through something if you want a clean look w/no nuts.
