Re: Period Correct Accessaries for your truck...

My newest accessory... Made in the 60's

Justrite Light-Stick Flashlight
My thought in all this is...
What items would be found in this truck back in the 70's if it was out on the farm when the crops were being planed.
Or if it was taken out on a picnic.
What might you find in a 70's truck.
Most of my items are 60's to 70's but I am using my old Brick Cell Phone.

I had a couple of Justrite head lamps very much like that for search and rescue. Battery box was the same but the lamp/reflector assembly was detached on a long [36''] cord and the lamp head was attached to an elastic headband. Some guys attached old coiled Mic cords in place of the 2-line zipwire, so it would slip more easily off obtruding tree branches on the trail.
Extremely reliable gear. USA made.
Then Petzls came out.

I hated those old flashlights... did they ever work? Why were they always dead?

I like the way it says; four standard batteries, instead of 'D' batteries, that box is crisp for being cardboard that old, nice!

Because the On/Off switch was exposed and could easily get turned on inside a glovebox, so it spent its charge inside, in the dark, and no one saw it being on.

On the headlamps/miners lamps I used in search and rescue, I learned to keep the top lid unlatched when inside my pack, so it couldn't get turned on accidentally. Good units if you took care of them. USA-made.

My folks got me THAT same craftsman box for Christmas around '67-'68 with a few tools in it. Not long after I backed over it with my '58 BelAir. Set it in the driveway and forgot.. I beat it back into shape (kinda) & used it for a long time after.
