my turn to ask some questions

I have a '68 GMC longbox in which I swapped in a Xmember from a '80 C10 for discs. I mistakenly cut the Xmember to raise the upper spring pockets & upper control arm mounts by 3". that got the stance where I want it but my camber curve is WAY off. I have been thinking about using the original Xmember along with the '68 upper & lower arms & changing the ball joints to later ones to match the '80 spindles. my question is should I & how much to lower the spring pockets in lowers. can this be safely done if I put some bracing "straps" from the edge of the arm to bottom of bucket? I also was thinking I would need to slice a pie cut out of the outter edge of the lowers to get the ball joint angle back in spec. do I need to offset the ball joint positioning to the rear in order to keep tire centered in fender?
I also have been doing some reading on the Heidts website about how good the Mustang 2 suspension works due to the control arms being near paralell to each other. they say it has almost no camber change.
sorry for the long post, I just dont want to waste any more time doing the wrong thing or shell out some money that I dont have.
