GMC tailgate trim question

I’ve found lots of information about the Chevrolet tailgate trim options, my question is about the 1972 GMC Jimmy gate. I’m attempting to “CST” my blazer by adding the lower and the tailgate trim, but I haven’t found the thick center section (with the Chev script) for/on a GMC.

I’ve been looking on the board and the internet and I haven’t found a mention, or a photo, which is probably my answer... but I figured I would ask. Did GMC get the center section trim with script? Or is that Chevy only, and Jimmy’s just got the upper and lower chrome strip?

Thanx for the help!

Re: GMC tailgate trim question

If you are asking about the woodgrain band across the tailgate with the GMC letters in it, yes a CST jimmy would have it.

For lack of a technical term, the ~4” wide wood grained band with the Chevrolet script is the piece I’m interested in. I’ve never found a photo of a GMC version.

I don’t know why I cannot link to image.

Re: GMC tailgate trim question

These appear to be black though, not woodgrain. Folks have replaced the wood grain decal on Chevrolet's so I would think if you really wanted the wood grain look it then it could be done by removing and reinstalling the GMC letters after applying the wood grain decal.

Re: GMC tailgate trim question

The lower bright molding piece seems to appear on 72 only Blazers. Jimmys probably the same but I can't confirm that.

There are 2 bands on the 72 Jimmy custom. The wide wood grain and the lower 1"(or so) silver strip below the GMC band.
