1966 K10 oil pan gasket

I have some leaks at the oil pan on my ‘66 4x4. I’ve seen other post where the engine needs to be jacked up at a minimum to be able to remove the oil pan. Is this only an issue for 2 wheel drive? By looking it seems I have plenty of room with the 4x4 to drop it out and re seal. Would like to make sure I’m not missing something and creating a headache before I dig in. Thanks!
