Re: 1967 C10 Long/Fleet

Haven't done much to the truck lately other than drive. Just a few minor things... door handle, cup holder, radiator hold down brackets...

Anyhow, last week the M20 bound up on me and left me stranded in a turn lane. After 'dragging' it across the intersection and getting it to the shop, I got it fixed. The shifter's getting old and starting to get a little play. It's working okay for now but this prompted me to look for an auto trans. After a couple of phone calls, I scored a Powerglide from the bro-in-law for the hefty cost of a 30 pack of Silver Bullets. I'm still collecting parts to do the swap, but it should happen within the next couple of weeks...

Nice score on the powerglide. Auto's are so much nicer to criuse. My Saginaw on the 60 has a vibration and needs to go.

I thought it would be cool to have a "three pedal" truck. And don't get me wrong, it's a blast to drive, but there are times that it begins to be a hassle. Especially when trouble arises with the shift linkages. I guess you can say I'm over it...

I'll keep an eye out for a trans for your '60. What are you looking to get? TH 350? 700r4?

Re: 1967 C10 Long/Fleet

The missed shifts with these old transmissions suck. It doesn't matter what auto. The newer ones with overdrive would be best for gas mileage.

I'll talk to my cuniado. I can probably get you a good deal on a rebuilt 700r4 (overdrive). I'll let you know what he says...

Re: 1967 C10 Long/Fleet

So we are in the process of selling/buying our home. We've sold our house and are under contract for a new one. Anyhow, I put my '67 on Craigslist to get some funds for the moving expenses and some new stuff for the new house. I got plenty of calls, many people wanting me to 'hold' the truck til payday and such... I just responded, call me back with you have the cash. Anyways, ended up showing it to a guy from Albuquerque on Saturday afternoon. He had some cash, but he offered a trade... now I know I wanted the money for the move, but dam I just could resist. Besides, I think the market for these things (if I decide to sell) is pretty decent in these parts... I traded 'up' to an '86 GMC Jimmy, 6" lift, 35's, 305/700r4, very decent paint, very clean interior. My stint on this side of the board was nice! But I guess I must return to the square body side... After all, I am the founder of the "Square Body Club"... Thanks for all your input and advice.
