Re: finally come

remember -yoiu might use some weld thru primer -inside that 1/4 -or leave a spot on the back side for access for undercoat or something in there or it will rust real quick when the outside is finished ?? there should be lots of info on the 2 metal sites i mentioned - it would also be easier if the body is on a positioner for welding ?? im about ready to start on my 59 napco carry all ,lots of the same welding spots to be done !!

i have a large area to patch. i will need to peel parts off to get access to internal parts such as the clam shell recieiver that i will be grafting a new rustfree piece back on. so i can get to the back side then

craftsman 120v set to min. temp and 3ish wire speed. I think im running non flux core wire, but I will check. no shielding gas... plus whats cool, when i flip to max temp and same wire speed i can weld 1/4" plate with same results!!!

Re: finally come

Thanks Pimpston65. I'm using gas on Lincoln 135, setting B(from A,B,C,D) and number 3 (out of 10). Next time out I'll take it down to 2 and see. Thanks.

Re: finally come

might be a bit a overkill, but i had the lift jig remade in steel. i also made it a tandem. now i use 2 hoists instead of one.

i had the center one added also with the idea of being able to flip it and use it to lift from the back pointing in, but i may cut those brackets off.
