parking, tail, backup, blinker problems

I'm new here and yall seem like a helpful buncha folks and i'm pulling my hair out on this one. I completely re wired my '78 toyota but the truck has me stumped. It's a '69 c10 stepside and the only lights the work are the headlights. Hi and LO beam both work and the hi beam indicator dash light works. I have put new bulbs and new fuses in on everything and the dash lights, back up lights, side marker lights, parking lights, brake lights, and blinkers DO NOT work. is it a headlight switch or what? i've been through all the wiring and i cant find anything wrong HELP!!!
Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forums.

Check the plug under the dash and right at the steering column. It is shaped like a crescent moon.

everything seems to be good there.

oh and i checked grounding on all lights by using a battery charger with the negative lead hooked to the battery and touching the positive lead to all the light pigtails and i only found one bad ground on the drivers backup light so i fixed it and still nothing

Check the blinkered switch under the steering wheel. Mine did this and the switch was broken in two spots causing everything to stop working for some reason

First thing you should do is check all the fuses with a test light. Do you hazard lights work?

i have checked ALL fuses with my bluepoint meter and a test light and just to make sure i put ALL new ones in and cleaned all the terminals. the ONLY lights that work are the headlights hi and lo beam both do work AND the hi beam dash light works. all other lights are dead and i've put new bulbs in and checked and fixed all grounds.
i'm going to order a headlight switch and try that out

Before you buy a new switch follow the instructions in this post.

[QUOTE=gimpie01;5526126]ODOG,is this the switch ,turn signal, or the flasher for the turn signals? Thanks Gimpie01[/QUOTE

The broken part on mine was the cam thing. When you pulled your lever to activate your blinkers, the cam made contact and made that side blink. Anyway, it was broken on both side, causing both to make contact. I never had both blinkers at once, I only had headlights, not brake or tail lights or flashers.

Re: parking, tail, backup, blinker problems

i've got a similar problem...the PO told me when i bought the truck that the headlights didn't work. I replaced the switch without question...now i have no brake or back up lamps or tail turn signals...everything up front works, *(except my clearance lights) I'll be troubleshooting this soon after i get moved. good luck, and look at the diagrams...you'll figure it out. The guys here are really helpful
