Allison/Cummins Combo-Defuel

As some of you know, I have been collecting parts for a Cummins build. One issue I wasn't settled on was the transmission. Well, it looks like I will be going with an Allison that was behind a 2008 Chevy 2500 Duramax.

Here's my question: Is there a way for a 6bt to be setup to defuel with the Allison? it's my understanding that this is necessary for the Allison to prolong it's life. Are there other options without defuel between shifts?

Re: Allison/Cummins Combo-Defuel

If you use the GM TCM some one will have to tune it via EFI live and then they will set the parameters and defuel would be one of them. I have a friend doing one in a 94 F350 with a 12v. He won't have any feed back for a while though as he's pretty much doing a frame off resto.

Re: Allison/Cummins Combo-Defuel

Are you saying that defuel would be disabled via the tune?

NO, but they might be able to turn it off, I doubt it though. I know the defuel/delayed shifting is a lot of the reason why under 10sec Dmax trucks ditch the Allison.
