the exducer of the turbine wheel is the small side, or the one you see when you look up the turbos butt. the inducer is the big side of that wheel in the front of the exhaust housing.

since the space available for the compressor to draw in air is the inducer and the space available for exhaust to exit the turbine is the exducer, you can get an idea for the air flow ability and depending on all kinds of other factors the power it will be able to make from knowing the size of the inducer on the compressor and the exducer on the turbine. the area of the exhaust housing, or the third number given in the size helps you determine how much fliud can pass through the housing at a given pressure. that will help determine the lag or how fast the turbo spools and has an effect on EGTs and drive pressure.

this thing seems to have a target on the gonad area, or maybe the wallet. but at least it should be a nice well done rig when finished! Ryan had it running/driving briefly, but it took a digger when the engine decided to knock.
So where did you copy and paste that? And 90%of people will get lost when describing the fun of proper turbo sizing so I have found it best to just keep to the KISS method on them.

Re: Ultra Family and Hauler Mobile

Last Saturday I pulled the rear axle apart and found the thumping noise. The parts are here so now the fun begins. Install of all new bearings and ring and pinion. Yeehaw!

Re: Ultra Family and Hauler Mobile

Yep that would do it . I remember when my 99 3500 dodge chipped off a tooth. 250 mi from home and 1100 mi left to deliver the boat . I pulled the cover off in the truck stop parking lot . Realised it was fawked by now so I just re filled it and carried on as long as i could in 4X4. Made it another 150 ish mi and the thumping was actually making me sick to my stomach it was so bad . Pulled over and scratched my head for a while ?????????? Ended up taking the rear half of drive shaft out , leaving front in the hanger bearing and continued on in 4x4 . Or front wheel drive i guess... lol... Took it real easy with abt 6000lbs in tow (empty return )and made it home 2700 ish mi round trip . Thank god for 4x4 !

I loved reading your longhorn thread but I think I love this thread more. I read a thread about another guy who did a CR in an EX a few years ago. He made everything work as it should. Sucked about the drain plug. Sounds like my luck.

I always wanted to do a Cummins Ex for the wife but have never found one cheap enough. So my next thought was a Tahoe. I found a few cheap. I like your idea of a 24v VE. How is the performance?

Re: Ultra Family and Hauler Mobile

The VE 24v runs pretty good. I'm still tuning on it and playing with it. I'm probably going to back the timing off a little more to try and reduce combustion knock to quiet it down. It's pretty loud compared to a vp or even a p pumped one.

Re: Ultra Family and Hauler Mobile

The airtex lift pump I put on there in the begining crapped out so I put an airdog 150 on it and it's been happier. The wife has put 12k on it so far since last year. Now I've got to fix the a/c and it's golden. The new napa clutch on the compressor doesn't want to work. Go figure. (It's been that way since last year. I just haven't gotten to it yet.)
