Bought My Uncles '69 Chevy 1/2 Ton Today

-
I'm not sure if he bought it new or not but I know he owned it for a long time. I will be able to tell when I get the title. This is all of the pictures I have for now. I didn't take any full view because I thought I had a couple on my computer already, from a couple of years ago....

Anyway, it is 100% original and I love the color. It was a farm truck and driven on a gravel road so it is packed with dried mud underneath and has the normal Iowa rust problems. It has been sitting for a long time but it has been inside a concrete floor garage. I will try and get back out to the farm and get some full view pictures in the next few days.

Wow, what a great color! And that interior is in GREAT shape!

You must be thrilled to have that family heirloom in your corner now.

Congrats!

Nicely done. Not that it matters a whole lot, but it would be really cool if he bought it new.

I'm guessing this one's a keeper?

I have been hoping That I would be able to get it. Neither of my two cousins are interested in it but they are happy that it will be staying in the family.

Thanks.... Yes, I am planning on keeping it. I may have to get rid of a couple of other ones to do that though.

I too, like the color.

Is the motor a 307?

Love it! Interior looks nice. Curious if the radio still works.

Question Re: Bought My Uncles '69 Chevy 1/2 Ton Today

I thought 1969's had the newer designed inside rear view mirror bracket.

Not sure at this time. Other than the block casting I don't know if a guy could tell from the exterior.

Sure looks like it could if the speaker is good.

I didn't think about that but that does look like the '67-'68 style mirror. The mounting holes would be different so I can check when I go back out. The mirror flops around and won't stay up.

Re: Bought My Uncles '69 Chevy 1/2 Ton Today

Congratulations on your new truck, the 69 that I bought new in the fall of 1968 was this color also. Never realized that it was a rare color, as I remember I didn't see many that color back then. It's nice that it will stay in the family.

Good eye on the interior mirror. It appears to be original, no boss in the header panel.

That is great the truck landed in your hands.

I had a '69 K/10 CST Custom Camper in that color way back when, black interior. Sharp color!

Apparently, the mirror bracket was a mid year 1969 change. I have seen several '69's with the later design.

That is awesome Leon! It is always great to get an old memory back in your possession. The interior doesn't look terrible and above the windshield looks very nice for a Midwest truck setting in a barn for many years. Usually they are packed full of mouse houses as you know.

Re: Bought My Uncles '69 Chevy 1/2 Ton Today

With the glovebox decal not calling out the engine size, I'd guess it would be the 307? the base V-8. 67 was the last year for the 283. My 67 has no call out for the engine, I bought it without the engine/trans, has V8 frame mounts.
307's were all 2 barreler's..........

I went out and took a few more pictures this afternoon. I won't get any good ones until I can get it outside. There isn't much room around it and as you can see it is really dirty.....

Congrats on the truck, great color.
Not that it really matters, but mirror issue might (?) even be a plant to plant issue in 69. My 1st day of production 69 Fremont truck has what I would expect to see.
