Yea thats my buddys yard it sat there for a little bit I hauled water with it tell about 2 years ago. The tank was 4000 gal and it would pull that load with ease. I scrapped the tank it had a crack that got worse and was in a bad spot then tore truck down to paint frame and engine and thats were it sits. I will get started on it again next year just been collecting parts right now. I have the build sheet from pete on the truck and the build sheet from cummins for both motors. The build sheet from cummins is real detailed all part numbers on what was installed in the engine also who assembled it. It even has the dyno results and what oil pressure and temp was when tested its real nice info. I am going to build a bed with a dove tail on the truck to haul my toys and also haul a travel trailer. I miss driving it every other truck I drove I couldnt wait to get out of but not this one.

I thank you for remembering the old girl I like talking about her.

Are you going to go back to a needle nose or leave the clariben hood on it.

I love the clariben hood so much easier to work on plus it is out of the ordinary.

That was a great looking truck as it was. I'm sure you'll have it lookin' sharp once you get on it.

Re: Bringing home 69 Pete

I do like the look of the dual headlight kw look it is a real nice constructed hood and heavy.

I hope to have it looking nice have to finish my c10 first. I can build the pete a lot faster then the c10. The engine/trans/aux trans/rear end/suspension/brakes are all in top condition all I have to do is clean and paint frame. Then I have to work on inteior and plumbing. I ripped out all the cloth lines and am going to replace with nylon dot line. I wish the c10 would go faster dont want to cut corners but it can go faster but im only one person. I want to start on the pete and have it back in running condition.

By what I see in your signature, you get things done. I never get a truck done too fast. I get anxious, like anyone else, but I know it's just the way it is.

Well, that's part of it,but looking back after things are done it don't mean squat. We need to ring up Mr.Peanutbutter somehow. I'm sure he'd enjoy seeing this.

Re: Bringing home 69 Pete

Sorry guys, I've been preoccupied for awhile. Thanks KQQl IT for this photo, best one I've seen, I almost thought it was my truck for a minute. Can you put a year model on it? Can't tell if its tilt hood or butterfly, I think its a 281. I'm thinking about repainting mine back to original colors but I don't think people around here would understand. It would be nice to paint it back the way it should be and take it to the Brooks show. Once again thanks KQQl IT for finding this pic, really made my day.

Re: Bringing home 69 Pete

Hey Peanutbutter, glad to see you post. I've wondered where you went and hoped you weren't in some sort of jam (ah jeez). This last picture is great! Even has a couple 67-72 GMs in there. How about that lunch wagon??? Cool beans! Back to the Peterbuilt...Yes indeed, paint yours back to original fleet colors. Hey,in the '60s painting a truck pink would raise an eyebrow or two. But,these days pink carries a bit less of a stigma, for (the rest of us) men. I'm still considering Palamino Tan on my '67 GMC. I hear people call it pink all the time (I think once it fades). It's peach y'all,DAMMIT!! No really,it ain't just Mary Kay anymore and it's just plain correct for that truck. Hey,it's real simple. Anyone makes a comment about the color get's their eye dotted. That outta solve any questions on that matter

Re: Bringing home 69 Pete

I wish this was a pic of my truck, I would be freaken out right now but its not, looking at the radiater shell below the headlight the shell tapers up towards the headlight on a 281, also mine has extra fuel tank behind battery box. All in all its the best pic of what my truck should look like and I think this is the way mine should go back to. You would think there are more Keiser company pics out there somewhere so I'll keep looking, maybe I'll get lucky.

Re: Bringing home 69 Pete

Not mine, here is one of those old butterfly hoods, my favorite era of Petes. Getting harder and harder to find, even on the West Coast. This one is glider kit, meaning the truck has been updated, no telling what the title year is. When I think Peterbilt, this is the truck I think of, not the trucks that are sold today.http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/cto/4835806507.html
