spare tire tools retaining spring (68K20's)

on the passenger side rear corner of the cab, there is that wierd spring that retains the tire iron, the jack crank handle.

I have seen a few refferences to it in other post's.

I have a 68 K20 that came out in dec 67 thru possibly feb 68.

it does not have that spring retainer thing that bolts into the corner. there is no hole for the fasteners to bolt it in place either.

I'm not talking about the hardware that holds the bottle jack on the floor. I have that the jack and all the correct tools.

but no spring thing to retain the jacking tool and tire iron in place and no hole for it either.

is this common on the 67-68 trucks.

I got no bag for the tools either. dis the bag come on latter trucks too

Re: spare tire tools retaining spring (68K20's)

The tire iron and crank go on the floor behind/under the seat in 67-68, not in the cab corner. I can't find a good pic at the moment. There are 3 raised ribs, two straight, one resembles a W, three brackets screwed to the floor and a 1' long spring with strange looking ring at the loose end. Here's a pic of my floor where the tools go, sorry I don't have a jack or the tools at the moment.
