Cool any ideas

Hey guys, I have a 1985 4wd diesel blazer frame and running gear sitting here that the body basically rotted off of, at least beyond the point where I feel it's fixable. I'm throwing around the idea of putting something else on top such as an older short box or maybe even a car, does anyone have any experiences with such a feat or am I way out in left field here?
Thanks, Carl

Re: any ideas

I have seen several done like you are talking. I haven't done it personally. Easiest answer, find a blazer body that is good. Anything can be done if you are willing to fabricate enough.

Re: any ideas

yeah, tried that, its real hard to do up here in the north, everything rusts out from all the salt and crap. When ya have 6 months of winter the vehicle bodies dont last long. There is a place that brings in southern bodies but even they arent totally rust free at the age im lookin for and theyre not cheap.

Re: any ideas

I saw a late 70s Camaro on a 4x4 blazer frame here locally... actually didn't look to bad since the Camaro body was in good shape... I didn't ask any questions like how it was done...

Re: any ideas

yeah, my teenage son would love for us to throw a car of some sort on there, I just don't know how to go about getting the body to sit on there properly with that hump in the frame where the back seat on the blazer was. I'd like to put a car on if it could be road legal after

Re: any ideas

Re: any ideas

I was thinking of doing something like this with my 74 K5. The body I was considering using is a 66 big back window cab i had bought as a parts truck. I would mainly be using the truck in the future as a rock crawler and the topless K5 might be a bit too dangerous in a roll over haha. Of course what ever I build will be overkill on the rollbar. I have not done any measuring to see how it would fit but would most likely build some sort of bobbed flat bed for it.

Re: any ideas

that would look awesome I think, would like to see a pic if it happens. I'm partial to the early 70 s trucks myself so I think I'm going to hold out for a sothern cab in that year range and hope for the best
