Heres my C10 contribution...

I had a paper route when I was a kid. Every morning I would walk by a red and white C10 truck (square body) and I loved it. It became my favorite car. My family was far from wealthy and I knew that we would never own a truck that nice. Fast forward MANY years and my wife finally said we could get a "hot rod". Took me months to find to find the right one and this was it. Didn't waste time tearing into it. Got a LS and many other modern goodies. Its a work in progress and not really a project truck but its something the kids like to go for rides in. I have an office gig so this is my escape along with building custom furniture.

After all the great advice I got from the site, I figured I try to give back and share some pics.

Cheers,
Scotty

The day she came home... got it in Kansas. At one point it was a long bed with lots of rust. I can tell there is a small fortune in bondo under that paint. Still don't care. Its an awesome truck.

Pulled the 283 4spd. Was about to scrap it before a craigslist guy came and got it.

Got me a 04 Avalanche LS.

Installed a rack and pinion

New steering column and wheel

Added power brakes

And where it sits today. LS installed and runs really good (again... thanks for the advice and help)

The "shop"

Some things to finish up like an air filter box, battery tray mount, trans cooler lines, drive shaft, exhaust tail pipes (currently vented under truck... want a side body exit), wheels and tire, disc brakes, etc...

Great story, and a very nice truck. Most people see "just an old truck", we see a TREASURE!

Thumbs down Re: Heres my C10 contribution...

Awesome Are you thinking you'll use the LS air filter box or custom make one?

Thanks. Custom box for sure. I was thinking a rectangular filter. Not a big fan of conical filters.
