Help with ford 9"

Dumb place to ask but here goes....
I'm running a ford 9" on my 86 c-10 and when I jump on it the rear traction keeps grabbing side to side. It throws you all over the road.
I can slam on the brakes, then it will grip both tires.

Re: Help with ford 9"

Like above. It sounds like you have wheel hop.

My guess is is one of two things. Your springs are a touch to stiff or your shocks more then likely are worn out.

4 Link and Coil Overs. I don't think its a suspension problem, since its been this way for 2 years. No wheel hop. I don't know how the Tru Trac differential works but I know it's not suppose to switch wheels

Re: Help with ford 9"

I don't know what a Tru Trac does when it wears out but nothing lasts forever. Usually you don't even know its there. It does sound like a malfunction of some kind in the locker. I would look for something obvious first by physically looking at it. Then I would look for a manual to take it apart and inspect/refurbish it.

Re: Help with ford 9"

Ok will do. This is how it looked a couple months ago when I installed the coil-overs.

Re: Help with ford 9"

What about pinion angle and tire press. I have a 4 link with coil overs/tru trac and if I have too low a tire press it starts hopping.

Re: Help with ford 9"

It did hop till we adjusted the angle, This just started switching sides on tracking, I guess I have a bad diff. I have a few different diff. but they are geared for drag racing, I'm trying to go street for trips to car shows. But Thanks
