Anyone had this happen????

I was driving down the highway in my 01' suburban and 3rd gear just went out. No sliping or anything just was not there. From a dead stop its fine 1st then 2nd and then like its in netral and revs out till it downshifts back to 2nd. Any info on this???

I just bought a '00 Tahoe. The transmission going out is my biggest fear. I hope you get it sorted out without too much pain.

3-4 clutch pack is likely smoked, been towing with it at all? Several possible causes... How many miles on it?
