Exclamation Help! Need some measurements on a 47-55!

Would anyone with a 47-55 truck be willing to take some frame height measurements for me?? I am doing a frame off on a 50 3100 and need to know top of frame to ground measurements at front and rear. Am installing a TCI IFS package and need to have the frame on jackstands at something close to a finished ride height. If you only have stock ride height that would help, but would prefer some measurements on a nice lowered stance! Thanks in advanced. I have tried posts on a couple of other sites without much luck!

Looking at Chevrolets specs for a 49, the hight to the top of the frame at the CL of the rear axle is 21 11/16 inch at the rear and looks to be the same at the front. This is stock height, maby somebody else could give you some dropped measurements.

I am doing the same thing to a 52 Chevy truck with the TCI IFS. I already had the frame out of the truck before I ordered the IFS. I could also use some measurements.

Heatwave,
Nice truck!

For all those who have not posted you machines in the Show us your stuff. thread (including myself), please do so. It helps with Truck of the month nominations among other functions of the board and moderators.

Thanks, Denny

Thanks for the info Heatwave. The stance you have on yours is about what I am looking for so I will go with your measurements.

.......H W, would you measure the front and rear fenders from the center of the axle at the bottom lip of the fenders to the ground, and what size tires are you running front and back?
Did you say that you are running the stock rear spring and lowering blocks on the rear? are they 2.25" blocks?

Thanks,
Bob

If I understand correctly here are the measurements:

2' exactly from center of axle fender to floor Front
2' 1 1/2" rear

tires are 225X60R15's

Lowering blocks are 3"

Let me know if this is not what you were after.

H W thanks, is that 24" front and 25 1/2" on the rear from the bottom of the fender to the ground.
Do you have any spring wrap up when you leave VERY hard off the line with 3" blocks under the axle, do you have a posi?

Hey Dirt Doctor, sorry to hijack your post !!! Welcome to the finest board on the web!
My truck is up on blocks and the sheet metal is all removed. I can take some measurments on the frame but not in relation to the ground let me know if I can be of some assistance.
What are you going to do with the rear end ?

HW has a good looking truck and it sets right in that photo, thought I would see if my measurments were the same while I was looking at this post.

I'm putting a 4 bar in real soon...I'm afraid to come off the line real hard with this setup. Also thinking about adding a blower, so the springs have to go!

You can get the 4 bar at Chevy Duty for $399.00 without the coil overs. If your doing it now from the frame up....I wish I had done it from the start!

And yes those measurements are correct.

Good luck,

HW

I have a 54 sitting out front getting ready to be worked on, I could use it to get STOCK measurements off of it. But you were wanting the measurements on a slightly lowered stance. Plus this one has no engine so the front would be higher then it really should be.
