Converting 2wd to 4x4 using 3/4 ton 4x4 frame?

I'm wanting to convert my 67 to 4x4. I found a complete 71 3/4 ton 4x4 truck on craigslist I may buy for the swap. Will there be any problems I'd run into using the 3/4 ton verses a 1/2 ton frame.

shouldn't be an issue. You should gain disc brakes on the front with this as well.

Re: Converting 2wd to 4x4 using 3/4 ton 4x4 frame?

Is there any difference between the 1/2 ton 4x4 frame and 3/4ton frame, I'm going to have to shorten the frame because it's lwb but that shouldn't be a problem

No difference in the frames until you get to one ton.

The difference you are going to find is the parking brake and low hump high hump.
Parking brakes are foot opereated on the 71
and the high humps are on 4x4 trucks

High humps are also in 2wd's. Any factory big block truck, or a 4 speed truck will have a high hump.

That won't matter in the 4x4's because GM never built a 67-72 4x4 1 ton.

On the 4x4's, the 1/2 tons and 3/4 tons have the same height and thickness when talking about the actual channel of the frame. You will be fine.
