Rear slider install pointers

I did a thread search for this but didn't find anything pertinent.
I'm finally replacing my reward window with a slider that I ve had for about five years now.
I have the stainless trim in the seal now and the replacement seal I have is the one for it.
I know I've read to put the trim on the seal before install.
I have the rope to pull the seal into place.
Is this a two person job?
Do I need to put any soap on the seal to help?
I'm just looking for any expert do's and donuts, so that I don't break it and it doesn't leak.
Thanks

Re: Rear slider install pointers

I would say it's a two-person job - one inside the cab pulling the rope in, and the other in the bed holding the glass in place.

I like glass cleaner better than soap because it's easier to clean up.

Some masking tape across the trim can help keep it in the gasket while you install the glass.

It's really not a very difficult install. Double-check your alignment before you start pulling the rope through. It's extremely difficult to break the rear glass.

Re: Rear slider install pointers

Thanks for the tips.
What is the best way to start it?
I'm thinking, put the bottom in, while holding it in place, slowly pull the rope starting from the center, working around to the sides, then back to the center on top.
Is this the right way to do it?

Exactly. Start in the center on the bottom and work your way around. You might want to have a hook or other tool to help you around the bottom corners. Otherwise, it's should be take less than five minutes.

Bookmarked this for future use. I'll bet 80% or better applies to your job. I like the tip of wrapping the tape to the inside and letting the rope cut it.
