Question Which Chevy truck bench seats are interchangable?

... as in which years will fit a 68?

My springs are a little saggy toward the edge and I don't feel like I'm really sitting straight. I was hoping I could find a better seat. Then again, maybe there is a way to fix saggy springs?

Any info or ideas are appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Which Chevy truck bench seats are interchangable?

I'm also interested in this. I have a pretty bad "sag" on my driver side that gives me a pretty good lean toward the door while driving. The truck came with an extra bench seat when I purchased it, but the extra doesn't match the interior and has a huge rip down the center. I'm not sure if it would be easier to fix my current "saggy" bench seat or go through reupholstering the second one.

Talking Re: Which Chevy truck bench seats are interchangable?

I picked up two leather, heated, power bucket seats and console from a 2006 Suburban...fitted in really well by just drilling new inboard mounting holes and adding reinforcement plates under the new mounts. Added bonus is they come with built in retractable seat belts !!!!

I did take the inside fuel tank out, put in a rear mount between chassis rails... more for safety, seat install didnt need tank relo...

Just my 2 cents worth...

88-94, the benches from these years will fit, but I think you have to fab the mounts. The 60/40 split bench with the fold down arm rest is cool. This is the seat I plan to use in my C-30. I think you can also use the next series newer.
Recovering your old one is not that hard, but takes space and patience. Also lay the new cover out in the sun to make it more plyable

Re: Which Chevy truck bench seats are interchangable?

I am torn on this job........I love my bench seat but I do wish I had a headrest in case of being rear-ended.

Either way, it has to be a bench seat. Heck, I wish modern cars had those!

Re: Which Chevy truck bench seats are interchangable?

All of the bench seats 67-72 are interchangeable, however, there are different designs. The mounting holes are all the same. The brackets do not interchange between seat styles.

The earlier style ones, 67-70, are a combination of springs and a thin 2-3" foam topper while the 71-72 are considered "full foam" with flat springs on the bottom with about 6-7" of foam. They are the most desirable.

I restored a 69 seat, but found it to be too bouncy while driving. It looked great, but did not "drive" well.

I found a 72 full foam seat which I restored and find it to be much better.

Fixing the side springs on a spring/foam bottom seat is fairly simple. LMC sells the replacement side springs. I did not find side springs for the full foam seat, but adapted the earlier side springs and made them work. You will have to deconstruct your seat to replace the springs.

I had never done any upholstery work before, so I just watched a bunch of YouTube videos and spoke to a local shop where I had some previous work done on another vehicle. It was pretty simple, but now I know why shops get so much money to do that type of work. You work up quite a sweat.

Thumbs up Re: Which Chevy truck bench seats are interchangable?

Good info! Thanks guys, I think I'll look for a 71-72 seat ( but the buckets sounded sweet as well and are probably easier to find).

Looking for bench seat for a '72 in Colorado area. Seems like they are not easy to find. Any help would be great. Thanks.
