door striker

my drivers side door is not closing tightly. ive tried adjusting the position of the door striker every which way, and i got it as good as i can, but its not catching the second , fully closed position. do i need to get a new striker? i see its worn. is that the problem?

get out the welder and build up the worn areas and it should improve. the hinge pocket might be weak/rusty causing the door to sag and wear the latch. seen it many times!

Jim Carter has clips that go over the door piece to compensate for the groove, his catch phrase is "buy a pair and a spare". Sometimes new rubber keeps the second "click" from engaging.
