Turn Signal Switch '70 C-30

Could someone please advise me on how to get past this point without breaking stuff.
The switch is loose but seems stuck near the 4-way flasher button. I don't want to just pry it out (unless that's what I'm supposed to do). Do I need to remove anything else or turn the switch some direction or another, enter some secret code, get a bigger hammer....???

Not sure what's holding it in.

Unscrew the hazard switch and jiggle it around . should get it off ,,,patience

Unfortunately I don't think that style of hazard switch unscrews....

Have you disconnected the wiring connector under the dash and removed the metal wire channel under the column? Push the hazard button in and push up on the wiring from below as you slide the switch up and to the left. It should slide out. Don't force it.

You're right Doc, The hazard doesn't unscrew. Pushing the harness through did the trick and that flasher switch was a tight fit.

With the advice here I was able to get it out without breaking it.

I am after the bearings both upper and lower. They're shot. And there is chunks of some white plastic thing that once existed somewhere near the lower steering column bearing. I don't know what that was or how it went in but if I can identify it, when I get a new one I'll probably figure it out.

Any vendor should have the bearings... As far as the white plastic, check post #14 in this thread. It could have broken and fallen down inside the tube.

Thanks again, Doc. That thread is very helpful. It would appear that my column is one of the simplest designs and for the more experienced, it probably doesn't get much easier As you probably know, my column doesn't have a shifter but the items in the diagram still apply.

I have part numbers 2 and 3 in tact. I believe I have part numbers 39 and 40 also but mine is shaped like the plastic circular washer/spacer with one flat side which I assume is shaped differently from part 40 due to shifter being present in that column. I could be wrong about that.

Below are some pics carried forward from that thread and a couple of pictures of the plastic fragment I am trying to identify. The piece of plastic was found inside the column near the lower bearing. It's the only piece I found and I don't recognize it in the diagram. Any idea what this once was?

Sorry, I don't recognize that piece at all. Maybe someone else will recognize it.
