Re: 67 parts

Hey there "67" I will take the hood if the nose is not all rotted out. We can meet up anytime I am probably only an hour or so away.

Re: 67 parts

Larry: Sorry to say I had to scrap the bed, it was totally wasted. The only I saved were the rear fenders, just in case I bought 68s and I need to cut patch panels out of mine to cover the side light holes on the 68s. Other than that, the bolt holes are totally rotted out on the back of the fenders so they're not usuable. I'm doing a frame off so if you do need anything else, please pm me.

to 86 Silverado:
the hood is in very good shape. It does have two or three small rot holes in the nose no bigger than the size of a pencil eraser. I do have pictures of it so if you pm me w/your email address, I will gladly send them to you. I don't post them on here because my pics are too big and i don't know how to resize them. the only reason i'm not using the hood is because i'm buying a cowel hood. other than that, I would definately fix it and use it. Let me know.
Thanks,
John

Re: 67 parts

Hey "67" I sent you a PM with my e-mail pics would be greatly appreciated. Just of the nose outer and inner lip would be fine.

Thanks.

Re: 67 parts

Thanks for the offer John. I'm in the same boat that you're in. I have a 67 short step that I'm restoring ground up. I went back and forth over restoring it and selling it over the last couple of years because I had little time on my hands to do anything with it. I finally decided to keep it though. I do have another 67 that I am taking parts off of and using for patch panels. I started disassembling the one that i'm keeping last summer, and I want to do some body work this spring. After I am done with the other 67 I was planning on scrapping it, so if you need anything off of it let me know.

Re: 67 parts

Hey John, if you don't mind me asking, around how much does it cost to have an engine professionally redone?

I have a perfectly good running 327 but I want to have it refreshed and all that good stuff. I can probably do it mostly myself, but if I can get it done professionally at a reasonable price, I would rather go that route. Free time has been in short supply lately

Re: 67 parts

Hey Larry,

I had the Bottom End of my 350 done by probably the best guy in RI in 02. To tank and Mag the block, bore and hone all cylinders and sleeve one. Tank and recondition all rods, new cam bearings and short block assembly was 975. Parts were 450 (which is high) He probably made 100 off parts or so but I didn't complain. This motor now has about 30,000 on it (being USED, but not abused ) and compression is dead on at 150 psi per cylinder and oil pressure is right where it should be. He charged me 190 to tank, mag, bead and surface the heads and I reassembled them and bolted the whole thing together. The motor that I started with only had 30,000 miles on it so it was not needing as much work as a higher mileage block and heads might. The reason it needed sleeved was because the guy I bought it from let water get in the cylinders and one of them didn't clean up at 30 over so instead of go more we just sleeved that one cylinder and were ablre to keep everything at 30 over that way. All in All it is worth it if you absolutely know the machinist and it is worth a little extra piece of mind that you will not have to be pulling the motor anytime soon. I know everyone talks about the crate motors and the price and warranty etc. but to me a waranty is worth squat if I am having to put my truck out of comission for a month to replace a brand new motor.....Sorry if that was confusing, the total price was 975+450+190...As you can see I skimped a little on the heads because I knew it would be no problem to pull them and swap in a nice set of aftermarkets at some point and I knew I would have the bottom end all squared away. Don't forget all the other little things though like new clutch assembly, waterpump, balancer, power steering, carb, alt, that you will probably want to do at the same time

Re: 67 parts

Hey, thanks 86. It was a little confusing (I'm still on the apprentice side of serious motor work) but it gives me a good idea. I'm not too worried about pulling the motor because I have to pull the 327 out of my C-20 to put it into my C-10. So since I'll have it out I figured that I would have some work done to it. I also have a running, pulled 350 in the garage. I was thinking about putting that in the C-10 instead since it is already out but that one runs kinda rough and would probably need quite a bit more work. At this time I'm thinking of taking the less expensive way out, so I will probably shelve the 350 for now. Sorry, just thinking out loud

Re: 67 parts

Was interested if you are parting the motor out and if so does it have a filter element air cleaner or an oil bath air cleaner? If it is the filter type I'm interested.

Thanks, Chad

Re: 67 parts

I have both the driver and passenger sides 67 stepside fenders - the driver does not have the spare tire cutout. Will be posting them soon.
