73-87 spring bushings

Ok i don't know much about 73 up axles. Friend has a 73 3/4t 4x4 4sp truck . So my question- changing the ft spring bushing easy? Stock rubber or urethane? How about ft axle u-joints? Pretty simple--remove everything from the knuckle-pull axle out? Pretty much like a closed knuckle i would think.

Re: 73-87 spring bushings

I think we all have urethane on our aftermarket 4" etc springs with no issues. Least The urethane work great for me

Re: 73-87 spring bushings

this whole tk is a mess. Looks like the ft spring bushing was replaced with the rear shackle ones? There is no metal/rubber one in the spring eye. Looks like 2 rubbers. front x-member has been torched for some reason. any body have a pic of a stock x-member pic with the eng out? just trying to help sort his mess out.

Re: 73-87 spring bushings

73-87 solid axle trucks have a known problem with the engine crossmember cracking / breaking under hard use .

offroad design offers a nice bolt in replacement unit . http://www.offroaddesign.com/catalog...rossmember.htm
