Re: Let See Seats On Your 55-59 Truck

The front seat that was in it before was out of a gm product. The PO said it was out of a lumina. It worked ok but was getting worn out and I wanted a bench seat for the extra person.
I wanted to put my own look to the interior and brighten it up inside. I have a friend that does upholstery.
I don't really have a build page as it looked like this when I bought it. I've changed the suspension, wheels, interior and redid the box with tank under floor.
I'm glad some people like my truck.

You can see where the base sits between the two raised parts on the floor

These seats are also available with an arm rest. Some of these had the upholstery glued to the foam making it very hard to recover. Mine had a zip off cover from the factory.

Re: Let See Seats On Your 55-59 Truck

"some" like your truck???? what's not to like? I think you've built a killer deal. I'm planning to do that exact same thing with the 3-point seat belts. Did you dye those to match?

Have any info on the rear suspension and install? Pics? Vendor? How is the air ride?

Re: Let See Seats On Your 55-59 Truck

seat belts came from here ...

http://www.seatbeltplanet.com/

They were great to deal with. Lots of colours to choose from.

rear suspension is A.R.T was for a 88-98 full size that I bought off ebay.
Works really well.

Re: Let See Seats On Your 55-59 Truck

Not to keep pestering but will the seat fit with the tank still in the original spot behind the seat. I've got to say NICE JOB to what you have done as the upholstery really compliments your truck. Thanks again for taking the time to respond, Mark

Re: Let See Seats On Your 55-59 Truck

I would think it will still work with the tank. The seats that were in it before cleared the tank before I moved it to the frame.

Re: Let See Seats On Your 55-59 Truck

Finally got it done and wanted to say thanks for the ideas. I finally just took a seat from an early 70's and cut out a chunk and welded it back together and even managed to get the brackets and holes to match up. Thanks again

Re: Let See Seats On Your 55-59 Truck

These are my seats out of a Tahoe, 2nd row temporarily installed in my '59 apache. I'm not sure about the front seat height yet, I may have to do some modifications, the drivers part is a little off center to the steering wheel, but tolerable and not noticeable unless you know what you're looking for. I'm pleased with the comfort level and the part you sit on lifts up for access to the underneath the seat for Stuff and access to the master cylinder. I also got the seat belts from the doner~ I hope to make it all work. ; )

Re: Let See Seats On Your 55-59 Truck

Used the seats from a 99 Silverado with power driver seat. After you cut the rivits and remove the orig. mounting flanges that also raised the seat height in the Silverado, it was easy to fabricate a bracket out of strap and bolt/weld it to the seat. I was able to use the stock front mounting holes on the hump but chose to weld in some rears in the floor pan to get the correct angle. Removing the headrests make the seat backs flush with the rear window opening.

any updates on your seats? I'm interested in how they turned out and how much space you have between the seats for a center consol

Re: Let See Seats On Your 55-59 Truck

My buckets came out of a Olds, or Chevy Venture, flat on the bottom, driver is electric, and need four bolt holes each. Way better than the Pontiac car seat on wood 4x4s that was in it when I got it.

Re: Let See Seats On Your 55-59 Truck

Entourageguy nailed it!! Very nice interior!! Seat and headliner finish off a very nice truck. I'm a bench seat kinda guy and don't think buckets or late model seats look right in old trucks. But his bench is done in some nice two tone tuck&roll . Nice

Here's what I did with mine. Stock bench seat with a new stock Cameo cover from carsinc.com. I like it and it's simple and nice and stock.
