Intake Manifold Swap

I have a 94 silverado with a v6. The valve covers state v6 vortec on them.
So I assumed that it was a vortec v6. I went on to Edelbrock website to find a replacement intake manifold as I want to do away with the tbi and computer. they show the mounting bolts as going straight down into the heads and my stock intake manifold shows them going in at an angle. So now I am not sure if i have a vortec or not, any idea's?

Re: Intake Manifold Swap

The tbi intakes were not vortecs. also the vortec [as most know them with the air horn in the center of the intake] did not appear until the model year 96. The S trucks had a CPI motor that carried the vortec name on it and it looked kinda like the tuned port units from the late 80's early 90's Camaros and Corvettes. The later model vortecs [the ones the full sized trucks carried until the 14 model was basicly the same as the ones starting out in the 96 model and those are the ones with the bolts going straight into the heads. I hope that has not confused you more. Ok, lets try it this way if, the bolts go in at an angle, you need a tbi to carb type of intake. Edelbrock does make one. You will just need to be sure of what you have before ordering and talk to the tech people at Edelbrock to double check.
