Best way to remove vent glass from frame?

I was cleaning, inspecting and lubricating my 1965 door vent assembly when KaaBAAAAM the glass slid out of the frame and smashed on the ground. I have an extra vent glass, but of course I can't get it out of the frame for fear of damaging the whole frame and vent assembly.

Any tips on how to remove just the glass? It's just set in the frame with glass setting tape, right?

Thanks! Your tip gave me another idea. Sounds like you tapped the frame using a wood block as a tamp. You must have held the glass with your hand or something like that.

I tried another idea that came to mind. Here it is. Instead of the brass punch I could have (should have) used a block of wood.

Thanks!
