saddle tank on a 1 1/2 ton 1941

I do not know if this is typical for a 1941 saddle tank but I do know the cab never had a tank under the seat.

About 18" round ----- flat on frame side --- and 30 inches long and is only on passenger side just rear of running board.

I have a couple of cab overs 1941-46 and both of them have square saddle tanks. It looks like someone replaced the original tank on yours. I think most of the big trucks had external mounted tanks.

Interesting. I have a 39 1.5 ton and it has an in-cab under the seat tank. Fill neck on passenger side, and no evidence of it ever having a saddle tank. Maybe there was a change between 39 and 41?

Looks period correct, what kind of bed is on the truck?, My '42 1.5 dump had the under seat tank, I've seen the saddle rectangular ones in photos and factory manuals, maybe the bed manufacturer installed it.

Maybe it was delivered as a cab and chassis and a bed supplier put the dump bed on and saddle tank. Maybe removed the seat tank. The cab had no selector valve on it. I did not find a solid rubber plug in the factory fill hole like on the later -- 60's c40s and up.

I do not know for sure how it was delivered and changed in its life. I do know the top was replaced on the cab at some point in its life as the post seams were spot welded and sloppily leaded.

9YR01 7790 --i think is the serial/model number

The tank is a relic of 70 + - yrs of who knows what or did what, me...I like it .
The crude welding of the top cab section meeting the cowl I assume, is just that, war production was about to explode so they were getting these guys out as fast as possible, mine looks as if it was stick welded

Maybe but my 42 ----1/2 ton has a consistent raised bead weld that may been factory gas welded.
