Alternator change

Hi looking for the right way to change to newer alternator with built in voltage regulator on a1972 chevy c10

While the link posted above is simple and will work, IMO it is not the best way to do it simply because it does not compensate for voltage drop when the no. 2 terminal is looped over to the large output wire on the back of the alternator.
Also routing the large output wire directly to the battery positive will bypass the ammeter shunt and the ammeter will no longer work.

Have a look at this thread and decide for your self which way is best.

I installed a 1984 camaro, and used the LMC external voltage regulator eliminator plug. One year no problems. I also removed the amp guage in the cluster and installed a voltage gauge in its place.
