Re: Carpet leveling mats

Until I finally found an original set of leveling mats, which took a long time, I had tentative plans to have the carpenter who works on my house carefully measure and then rout out a set of "leveling strips" from old plaster lath or furring strips. That would be a good "garage business" for someone as I am sure that complete sets would sell well.

Mine has levelling matts - curious what anyone has done with theirs when putting in sound proofing material? I'm going to pull my carpet this winter and put Dynamat or something in to quieten the cab noise. i may just put levelling matts back in on top of material. Thoughts. And is Dynamat still the most recommended or is there anything newer that people are using now?

Re: Carpet leveling mats

Why not just fill the low spots with strips of Dynomat?

Well for as rare as the leveling mats are, I don't just want to sell them or not use them in some way for authenticity. That's why I was curious what others have done in the same situation.

Have bought the Dynamat which I will use for inside doors, back panels and possibly over the wheel wells as it's nice and thin. However, I have also ordered Dynapad which I will put on the entire floor. It's quite thick and supposed to help significantly in road noise reduction. Between the 2 it cost me about $1000! Really hoping this is worth it. I'll keep you posted. Anyone else with any thoughts or feedback?

Re: Carpet leveling mats

The template is narrower but the ridges match our blazer for 66-77 broncos. Not sure if it's available aftermarket but picked up a few and cobbled a set together for my blazer.

Re: Carpet leveling mats

I was thinking of cutting a couple of these soundboards down to just make a flat surface. It only adds .5 inches to the height, but would level it out and provide sound protection. Thoughts?
