T5 spacer option

Been looking for a spacer to bolt my T5 to my 250 and ran across this one. All I've seen before were the 1/2" thick aluminum ones. This one is 9 ga steel plate (.1495") . Says you have to cut an inch or so off the bearing retainer collar and maybe 1/8 inch off the input shaft. The price is right. Looks like he's sold a good bit of them and no negative feedback so it seems legit.

Thoughts?

Re: T5 spacer option

That's essentially what I did, I used 3/16" (0.1875) plate, and I've had no problems or regrets with it.

Hmm. That seems like an awfully skinny spacer - good datat point that a slightly thicker one worked for scoot. Here's how I did it, but I used a 1/2" plate.

That should work fine. A spacer is only for an S10 input shaft. The V6 Camaro T5 is 14 spline and the splines are cut further along the input shaft, so it doesn't need a spacer. The V8 will bolt up without any spacer or modification. It's cheaper than a Jeep shaft swap but you'll need to get a 14 spline clutch disc.

I can't remember if I told you that I picked up an s10 t5 at the auto fair and sold my v8 Camaro trans? The more I thought about it, the more I wanted the s10 tailhousing, and this trans actually goes smoothly through all the gears

After seeing this I pulled the trigger on one as well, I've got a a T5 I'm wanting to install and for that price it's hard not to. Now all I need to do is figure out which truck to try it on, my 66 or my 51.

What 14 spline clutch disc do you guys plan to use?

Here is some info I copied from my website. I hope it helps you.

If you end up getting yours installed before I do, let me know how it goes!

I haven't looked at clutches yet, thanks for the info! 11" clutch sounds like a good option.

Re: T5 spacer option

I'm using the Astro Van clutch on mine. Worked great behind the 292 and should work great behind the 5.3 as well.
