Just a thought..
Interesting thought. It is thinned with xylene<sp>. I would think when it dries and that evaporates, the gas/smell would be gone. It was kinda smelly when I put it on, but so was all the other paint in there.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Finished up the hidden radio today, hooked up the antenna, finished assembly of the console and reinstalled the passenger seat.
Installed a CB antenna in the original fuel filler location. An "era correct" addition (CB Antenna). More photos and data in my build thread.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Took my old starter to Autozone and had it tested.... LOL It sounded like a coffee grinder in their machine and tripped the safety breaker. Tested the new one I bought... spun and sounded like a high power air drill... nice.

Installed the new starter and new wire harness.... one thing at a time.

tore out the seat and old carpet, sand blasted the instrument bezel and painted it, reinstalled the tacho, sound deadener and scored matching chrome choke knob and cigarette lighter at the junk yard for $10.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Changed out the door lock cylinders and got the new wing window seal in on the drivers side. Here's a little tip in case anyone is considering the seal replacement: Don't.

I did get it in, but it took a LOT of messing around. I'll post pics for the other side, as it should go quicker after the learning curve. It's not all that bad in hindsight, but requires a few rivets drilled out, and some 'creativity' on re-assembly, due to differences in the aftermarket parts.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Finally finished driver's side of bed where I removed the old chain mounts - eliminated holes and latch cutout areas; started passenger side but ran out of MIG gas (bigger bottle?)!
Also patched the hideous hole where the antenna was…

the bigger gas bottle costs almost as much as the little ones, my gas shop let me trade in the smaller one for the larger one, All I had to do was pay for the gas, also check and see what the gas settings are should be about 12 inside and up to about 15-20 outside

Thanks. I got my little 20 cu. ft. from NAPA, only costs me $16 for refill - I'm using (wasting) less as I get better at welding, so I'll certainly check on the bigger one.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Got the heater panel painted and the glove box door re painted, the weather finally got in the temps where the paint will work, not perfect but not too much dirt in the paint...

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Spent the day in the following manner:

1. Spent about 2 hours trying like hell to figure out why the gas pedal linkage would not line back up with the carb throttle, removing the linkage and turning it around - Had installed the relay backward after painting it 6 months ago.

2. Spent an hour mounting the wiper motor and trying to remember how the relay linkage was laid out. Had to refer back to the pictures I took 4 years ago. TAKE PLENTY OF PICTURES!!

3. Spent 3 hours installing the interior defroster/heater combo and under dash heater box

3. Spent an hour installing glovebox liner, light, bumpers and door.

What did I do to my truck today???
I took a picture of it cuz it looked really good as a daily driver parked in the high school parking lot.
I am proud of my daughter that she loves driving a 64 truck!
I was delivering a forgotten lunch.
And it is still winter in Idaho

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Got the day/night Mirror installed, the transmission cover in place, the bench seat mounted, the choke cable routed and the gas pedal mounted with brass screws so they never rust. Also I created an album for your viewing pleasure called "Fal-Tor-Pan, The Reassembly". Those of you who are Start Trek fans will know what I'm talking about.

http://rides.webshots.com/album/579894970vydbSl

Fal-Tor-Pan, the Re-fusion. This ritual was performed on a 1960 GMC 305 V-6, 127" wheel Base Wideside Pickup in 2011. The ritual was considered very EXPENSIVE, both to the Owner of the Truck and to the keeper of the Katra, read "Purse". For this reason, it was almost never performed and at the time of Jake's Fal-Tor-Pan, it is unclear whether the ritual would be complete by June 2011.
