Rare W/T grill?

I've seen these to pickups now with the same wt grill they are not like the normal 94 up at chevy grill. One they are on older 93s. You can see the older 88-93 bumper filler. and they dont have the cross bars thing running across the openings. They instead have a mesh I really like the looks of this grill does Andy one know if it's a 93 only thing or an option thing.

Re: Rare W/T grill?

Bumper looks to be one of the LMC custom ones. Grille seems stock and painted with new turn/park lenses.

White bumper was found on the OBS trucks that came with the Diesel engine.

Yes they are stock. But they are not the same as the 94 up WT grills and are on 93s with the correctbumper filler for 88 -93s . Here's a pic of the 94 up grill. Now compare to the pics above.

Re: Rare W/T grill?

Only thing I noticed is the mesh, which someone could have added. Bumper filler could be from the Silverado grille.

Re: Rare W/T grill?

I got one from GM and put it in the '95 K3500 Cheyenne I guilt. The W/Ts were the earlier years, then they were Cheyennes. I'm pretty sure they dropped the W/T series. Cheyennes had single headlamps but they had chrome bumpers. The W/T wasn't rare. No more rare than the early Cheyennes with those single headlamp grilles. I will say the W/T grille is hard to find these days, though. You can't tell in the picture, buit I put the same mesh from the grille in the ram air scoop. It came with horizontal fins

before I changed it and before the racks. Looks better w/o racks but those were essential to my work. I ended up painting the W/T grille gun metal like the Cheyenne grille was and the powder coating on the truck

Re: Rare W/T grill?

So your saying the W/Ts and Cheyenne are not the same. I always thought the Cheyenne was the wt trim I thought it it goes cheyenne schotsdale then Silverado. But W/T was below Cheyenne then later cheyenne became the wt so to speak. I gess that would explain the absence of true W/T grills they are technically Cheyenne grill. Also recently covered to the W/T or Cheyenne grill on my 99 tahoe.

Re: Rare W/T grill?

In 92, the Cheyenne was 1 step above W/T. It had a few trinkets, but the W/T still carried the small Cheyenne badge on the B-pillar. The only thing I remember about what was different, was the W/T grill was black and had vinyl bench set. The Cheyenne had Silver and black paid for grill and cloth bench seat. It has been a while since I bought/had my 92, so I can't remember it all. I can't find the old window sticker that came with it.

Re: Rare W/T grill?

All trucks came with chrome front bumper but the W/T didn't. They also didn't get emblems, they got stickers. And they only came in a few colors. It was a short lived attempt to make a truck that looked even cheaper than the base level Cheyenne, or maybe more like make the base level truck more appealing by having a truck designated as a W/T with less features. Once the W/T model was dropped, the world started incorrectly (I could be wrong) referring to a base trim truck (Cheyenne) as the W/T. Maybe Chevy did start referring to Cheyennes as the W/T. They are still simply the base level truck, same as always to me. I don't think a Cheyenne Suburban was called a W/T. My '95 Cheyenne shown above came with a vinyl seat. I had it recovered with GM cloth. The '95-up bench seat was contoured and more comfortable than the prior base bench seat.

The '88-'92 Cheyenne grille looked like this

Here's my '95 Cheyenne Suburban

It is similar to the '94-up Cheyenne grille. But other than being darker, the vertical bars were fatter and instead of the thin horizontal with vertical fins in the openings it was a diamond pattern mesh, what I call "speed grille" material

Here is the W/T 1500 sticker for the door emblem and tailgate. Also, I believe there were only W/T 1500s. Base 2500s and 3500s were Cheyennes. And I think they were only long beds

Yes thank you that was the answer I was looking for.

Re: Rare W/T grill?

This was our '94 Cheyenne 1500 W/T ( had the W/T 1500 decal in the tailgate), we were the second owners and a family friend was the original owner that bought it brand new. Other than the wheels in this picture it was all original 4.3L TBI, 4L60E automatic, floor shift 4x4, chrome front bumper, painted rear step bumper, cloth bench seat, AM/FM stereo. Original wheels were silver painted steel with chrome center caps and beauty rings. I think it only had 4 total options listed on the SPID- the chrome items and the auto trans.

Re: Rare W/T grill?

I think '94 is when the W/T trim got changed. First year for new grilles and the W/T specific grille was dropped. I guess they started getting chrome bumpers, too.
