I need help on Turn Signal replacement.

I just bought a 71 C10 and am trying to replace the turn signal switch. I have a tilt steering wheel but i do not know if it is stock or after market. I have it apart to the point of getting the new switch wiring harness past the collar. I cannot get the collar to come off. I have tried to push in and turn 45deg. CCW but will not budge. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A picture would help us identify the column and would certainly help with further advice. Some columns, like on my 85, need special tools.

Welcome to the club btw!

Re: I need help on Turn Signal replacement.

I got it off but the connector would not fit. I guess that is why the old cable had the connector cut into three pieces. I de-pinned the new one and was able to get it done. Thanks for the feed back. I am still working on how to get pictures uploaded. My son is going to teach me.
