As far as my research has gone, I know A= January, 25= day of month, and 4= year? '64?, '74? These are supposed to be the original heads, it was my dadís truck bought off the show room floor in 1971.
And the P, whatís that mean?

Appreciate some clarification.
Do you still have the 350 block?

Yes, having the 350 short block rebuilt. The question was the P104 cast in one of the heads, all my research shows A through M was used for casting dates, one of mine has a "P".

Are you sure it isn't a 'D' ? Sometimes the casting is a little rough and hard to deciefer the numbers and letters

Unhappy Re: Online engine resources (casting numbers, calculators, etc.)

nervous71,

I contacted Year One, Inc about this and the responce that they gave me was this:

Quote:
Hello 1Bad62Pro/Street,

My opinion is that ĎPí is not a valid month code for a Chevrolet date code. Most likely what appears to be P is actually a poorly cast other letter such as B or F. Since one head was January 25 I suspect the other head was cast February 10 and the letter is actually B.

Regards,

Marty Thomas
Year One, Inc
martyt@yearone.com
Hope this may help Bud.

Yes that certainly does look like a 'P'. But I would have to lean towards the response 1Bad got from Year One.

Thanks to all for the clarification. Especially thanks to 1Bad62Pro/Street for pursuing that with Year One. I'll just accept it as a "B".
