Packard 56 kit
I am debating on a new complete wire harness or fix what I have for my 71. Most of the wires are not in bad shape but the ends are getting bad. I also need a new fuse block as mine is corroding.
Does anyone know of a good kit with the ends and plastic housings available that suits this need well? As well a fuse block available that replaces the old easily. |

You can buy type 56 terminals at better auto parts stores or Ebay. Plastic ends can be bought on Ebay, Terminal Supply, Del City.....
It's tough to get a new fuse block.

When I was needing some connector pigtails, I made a new topic here on the forum and asked if anybody had their old wiring harness laying around from when they did a complete re-wire, and wouldn't mind cutting some parts out of the old harness and selling to me. Forum member 57taskforce replied to help me out, and we made arrangements via PM. I'll bet that is the best way to ask for a fuse block.

Salvage yards are a great resource. I see you are from Indiana so look for the old grain trucks. The harnesses are a lot alike and also stuff like ashtrays and sun visors are common. I got my Packard ends on E-Bay in different wire sizes both male and female ends and just repaired my harness.

Some good ideas. Thanks for the replies.
I didn't think of the old grain trucks in salvage yards. I had a 71 C60 some years ago. 366 engine. I always like those too. Funny thing is the high fan speed setting didn't work in it and I fought it forever. I finally got it to work but I don't remember what I did. I know it was a backwards way of getting it done. When my current 71 Pickup high fan speed didn't work, I thought oh boy here we go again. I found this forum and spent a couple nights reading post and problem solved. Great info here. |
