Re: 1960-66 Chevy/GMC Truck Frame Diagram

When I first saw the diagrams I thought I won't need those, but after thinking about it for a couple or seconds I thought of a couple of measurments I might need.

Thanks

Re: 1960-66 Chevy/GMC Truck Frame Diagram

Does anyone have frame dimension charts for the 1960-1962 C-60 L-60 series 175" wheelbase with the X brace? And any type of photo? Thanks!

Re: 1960-66 Chevy/GMC Truck Frame Diagram

I guess I'm going to be the bad guy here, because we all know that both GMC & Chevy were NOT the same for these years of Trucks, just keep that in mind when posting and reading this forum, if it saids Chevrolet on it it done not mean its the same as GMC. Other then that nice scans.

Isn't the GMC 1000 and the Chevrolet C-10 the same frame? I did notice that the larger trucks seem to have a different frame setup but my request here is for the Chevrolet C-60 and L-60 175" wheelbase :-)

I know body shops had this information with their frame racks.
The 1/2 ton diagrams posted earlier above have those dimensions on them

The one with an X brace is for the 1/2 ton 2WD 1960-1962 Chevrolet and GMC pickups. The heavier ladder frame is the 3/4-1 ton and 4WD version. As for the 1963 2WD, that has a different frame with long rear control arms like this:

Does anyone have a cleaner larger version of this diagram?

Also seeking a dimensions chart (and any photos please) for the 2 ton long wheelbase (and says school bus too) that also has a X brace like below:

Thanks in advance for posting the charts here!

These will be large jpegs so you can read all the measurements with no problems.

If anyone needs measurements or diagrams of anything. . . Just let me know and I will scan and post them up. I will also be scanning and posting:
Vechicle Serial Number Identification
Truck Series Identification
Engine Series Number and Suffix Chart
Transmission Identification
Truck Rear Axle Identification
And more. . .

Do you know what the difference is in the rear between 60-62 and 63-72? I see all part numbers for suspension etc. go from 63-72 but it looks all the same???

The trailing arms are same, springs, bags. Not the same shocks, Panhard bar, extra stuff we don't need like crossmember. The x frame is wider and shaped different for notches and gas tanks.

Thanks!! I bought a rear bag kit from ridetech and am about to tackle the install, but had to get the 63-72 since that's all they offer. So the shocks may not work? Any clue what the difference in the shocks is? Sounds like everything else should bolt in.

Re: 1960-66 Chevy/GMC Truck Frame Diagram

My Ride Tech kit came with shocks and were way too short. You might use for front. I thought they stoped sending shocks. I been on Schrader valves for a while. Now getting ready for Porterbuilt front and Accuair control.

I've got shockwaves up front and the rear kit came with ridetech rq shocks. I have the full digital E3 ridetech set up.

Hello there!

Is there any chance you have one of these for a '36? A very good friend of mine is building a frame for one, so I've been trying to track one down for a while, but have come up with nothing so far.

If not, are you able to point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

Basically all the dimensions/measurements to build a frame. Measurements such as the locations of cross members, where (from the front) to the first cab mount, etc. Does this make sense? Something Like this:

Re: 1960-66 Chevy/GMC Truck Frame Diagram

good luck. you might find someone on stovebolt .com. there are some old chev restoration groups that are around and as mentioned the GMC historical site. I just thought of something that I will have to check out. think that it was in alberta
everything was pretty standard in concept from 32 -54 in the chassis dept.
ron

sorry can't find the info

I'm going to take this and load it into CAD.
Then can overlay the newer generation frames over it. That way members can have a visual of how the frames differ.
