14 Bolt Pinion angle

Does anybody know off the top of their head what to set the pinion angle to on a 68 short bed 4x4? I'm putting in a 14 bolt and have to cut the perches off anyway. Don't want to use shims

Re: 14 Bolt Pinion angle

I reality you want it to be the exact opposite of the output yoke's angle. This is best for the u-joints and eliminates vibrations caused by in-equality of the angles. A magnetic angle-finder helps a lot for this.
Most lift kits have angled blocks to tip the pinion upward to reduce the over-all angle, but it is not the ideal way to deal with it.
