Re: soft top

That looks better than the ones mad\e for the Blazer. Definately find out what it's for if you can. Could we get some pics to see the front and over the doors? Thanks!

Just realized you might have been talking about the metal strip... Man, we need someone to make a softtop for these trucks!

Thanks I apreciate you trying to help. Mine is going on my 1972 Jimmy also. It is killing me to drill but I have to have a top that is easy to take off.

If you don't mind can I get a picture of the little bracket that goes up by the bottom screw on the weatherstrip that holds the front of the horizontal bar. The instructions were very vague.

I see you didn't install the snap on the rear of the bedside, does it look like it makes a difference?

Thanks

I will try to get a picture today of the bracket not sure if I have it right. Didnt want to drill a hole in my bedside I dont plan on driving it in the rain. It will leak if you dont. I might try to weld something to the ends of the tailgate cap to make it longer for the bedside snaps, but they are made out of stainless dont think you can weld stainless.

Did you ever figure what year the tailgate protector is for? Sorry for being a pain! You can weld stainless I believe with both mig and tig.

I asked the guy that gave it to me he said it came off 1986 ford if you look it up in the LMC catalog on the web then search tailgate cap their is a picture of a ford truck sure looks like the right one to me. I am going to buy one that is smooth and try to weld ends on it.

Re: soft top

Bestop is the last company to make a soft top for our blazers. I bought one a few months ago by just using google and I found a company that still had at least one. It was over eight hundred, but now that bestop has stopped making them it was too late to wait. canback has said they were possibly going to make one to sell, but as of now I don't think they have. I don't know of any other application that woud fit our blazers. I think all the f@rd talk was about the chrome tailgate protector.

I drilled holes in the windshield frame that wasnt so bad I could seal them up if I have to put the hard top back on it is only a 3/32 hole.

Sorry I forgot about the pictures I dont no if mine is right I mite try and make a metal plate and put 3 holes in it so I can put all 3 scews in it and then weld the bracket to it. Here your pictures.
You have to get it real tight or it will pull down because their is only one bolt in it. But if you over tight it you will strip out the threads in your window frame.
I will make a metal plate for mine.

Re: soft top

What is the name of the rubber above the door? How far up is the L bracket from the rear of the truck and have you seen anywhere they can be ordered from? If not what is the measurements of the brackets so I can make one
Thanks in advance

Re: soft top

The rubber above the door is the top of the door gasket top was never put back on so it never got smashed down. You might still get the brackets from best top.
