Duramax/hypertech mileage

Anyone here have a Duramax with a Hypertech pwoer programmer?

They claim a potential for mileage improvement, any truth to this?

Depending on how you set these programmers up, I can see an increase in MPG.

Of all the programmers out here for the Dmax, Hypertech would be my last choice.

Why would Hypertech be your last choice?

What would be your first?

Quite a few guys on FullSizeChevy.com use the Predator or Edge programmers with the Duramax powertrain.

Others use a custom tuned PCM from Westers (Lyndon Wester 888-937-8371 ) or one of the other tuners.

I had a duramax with a diablo predator and it helped a little but not much. Now horsepower was off the chain. A stock mustang would be looking at the tailgate of my 4x4 crewcab! I was never happy with the fuel mileage!

My pick would be a TTS.It will give you 500 rear wheel HP but requires tranny or clutch modd's. The Edge,Predater, and Quadzilla seem to be popular picks. For more info go to thedieselplace.com.

There are Hundreds of things i can change, and i have several hp ratings that you can choose. THERE IS NO LIMIT TO WHAT i can do with them horsepower wise. Re: Duramax/hypertech mileage

Thanks for the update.

Did this come off thedieselplace.com?

I have been reading some of the diesel forums and everyone there is out for hp and torque, not fuel mileage.

I live about 800 miles north of Edmonton Alberta and make about 4-6 trips a year, mainly empty. I love the 310 hp and 590 lb/ft when pulling, but I would love to be able to detune the power for mileage when running down the highway empty with the cruise set at 70 mph.

So for $150 he will send me a new computer with programming I want.
I think I will email him.

Re: Duramax/hypertech mileage

It may be there, I pulled it from FSC this morning.

I'd call him directly, it is much easier to get ahold of him on the phone.

He did my 5.3l Vortec tune for me
