hello/help

new here , been following your forums for a few weeks and decided to sign on,you have a great comunity here , glad i can be a part of ! building a `72 chevy 3/4 ton 4x4 with my son . typical driver build, just need a nudge in the right direction, trying to verify the 350 to 700r4/205transfer info found here, going new tail shaft , witch shoves engine forward 1.85 inches ? also seems to be conflicting info on weather or not front driveshaft hits the pan on stock hight 3/4 ton . anybodys help here would be huge ,as i havent bought parts yet, but need to get going on it , the boy is so tickled about his `72 he has to sit on his hands to keep from waving at every body! makes a dady proud.

Re: hello/help

that`s simple enough, did the swap help drivability enough to justify the trouble? gas in kansas city mo is $3.56 and a 16 year old with a 4x4 and 4.10 gears it is going to be tough to keep himself in fuel..... of course there will be less trafic fines .

Re: hello/help

I wish i had those gas prices. Up here it's $1.24/L or $4.96 for 4L's. A gallon is alittle more than 4L's, but you get the picture. Have any pics of truck?

Re: hello/help

no pics yet i will get some up soon . pretty cool truck, true 4x4 custum no frills work truck but all and all decent shape , we have to put in new cab corners & rockers with a little bit of pass. floor. bought a rust free wood floor long bed for $100 just paint and put new wood in its done , also the bed is a 67 so we`ll be adding side markers hopefully a easy task ? restored the gauge cluster , he got new floor mat and dash for x- mas, grandpa found him a 1970 310 hp 350 out of a boat with almost no hours on it ! should be a tourqey little engine good idle to 4500 rpm power perfict for 3/4 driver- work truck, not a bad find for $650 !! trying to get him to paint it the original med green, but he wants a white top blue body with white bottom and just lower trim, i keep forgetting its his build and not mine but working with him on it is the most fun i ever had !
