The exhaust LMC sells, installed.

I finally got around to installing the dual heartthrob exhaust that I bought from LMC. It is this one here:

Took about a day of tinkering to get the old one out and line this one up. I was impressed with the fit and alignment of the tail pipes, it turned out just how I pictured it looking. It is no where near the sound of flowmaster 40 series (I wanted something quieter) but it still has a nice grunt to it. Performance wise, it is still a 1978 3/4 ton

X2. The glasspacks in the truck I bought are too loud for long trips, And I need something quieter.

Just under 400 bucks CAD total. The exchange rate is a little better now though.

And one more pic:

In the pictures it looks like the tail pipes are making contact with the frame rails and the bottom of the bed as they go over the rear axle. Is that just an optical conclusion?

Yeah, bit of an illusion. There is about an inch of clearance from both the frame rails and the underside of the bed. I wanted the pipes up as high as possible without rattling against anything.

Re: The exhaust LMC sells, installed.

I got my exhaust put in and did not realize right away the tailpipe on the right side was hitting the bottom of the bed. It made a bit of a racket.

Re: The exhaust LMC sells, installed.

Lookin' good. I had a Heartthrob kit for my old Camaro, that I never did get around to installing before I had to sell the car. But I was super excited to hear it, the pipe pieces were really nice, and your kit looks like the same quality from what i can tell. Hope it treats you well!

Re: The exhaust LMC sells, installed.

It looks good and appears to fit great. I'd kind of like to go one size up and find a 2.5" kit for my dually big block.

Thanks for the pics. I have the exact same system still in boxes ready to go on my 81 2500.
Thanks again,

Thanks for the photos I'm in a mix between this and local installer price. How long are those mufflers?

Re: The exhaust LMC sells, installed.

I am in the process of installing this same exhaust on my 87 Suburban.
the exhaust bolts up great and fits good, but the exhaust hangers they sent me are different than the ones in your pics.
The sent me 4 4" long straps of rubber with holes in it with a lip at the bottom??? There is nothing to attach these to under my truck. Did those hangers come with your exhaust or did you have to buy them afterwards?
May just take it to a muffler shop next week to have them weld in place.

Tip:
If there is room, install baffle type mufflers in before or after the glasspacks. Both mufflers work very well together at canceling out the noise. The baffle mufflers remove the low frequency and the glasspacks remove the high frequency.

How did cost compare to getting something done locally? Did you bring it across the border yourself?

Re: The exhaust LMC sells, installed.

Did it bolt right up to stock cast iron exhaust manifolds? And what type would those have been in 1978?

Re: The exhaust LMC sells, installed.

Mine did, bolted up just fine to the stock manifolds. My kit just came with som exhaust hangers that could not be used with my truck. Got it at the exhaust shop now getting some hangers welded.

Looks great. Went with the Turbo mufflers off the same catalog, keeps it extra quiet.
