Re: 1991 V2500 Suburban

Well i decided to start working on the ol burban again i finally got a new drive shaft made using my existing 241 slip yoke end and a new 1410 yoke and joint on the other end then.... it turns out it was too long. I called them today and i guess somewhere between me my uncle and the drive shaft place something got mixed up and it ended up being about 2in too long which is a good thing because cutting it down is much cheaper than re-tubing it. He said he would split it with me so i just gotta bring the drive shaft back up so that's cool of him.

Onto other news I've decided to incorporate a multi-piece exhaust design seeing as many trucks are like 2 piece for some reason and you have to fish them over rear axles and what not that could not be more annoying to me. My idea will be my hooker manifolds to the mids to an x pipe to electric cut-outs to some sort of muffler/glasspack/whatever then out the driver side. Three things i do not want/will never get, straight pipes, any kind of flow master anything, exhaust splitting out two sides.

Those are my two biggest obstacles so far after those are done i will put my rear shock mounts on that i cut off my old axle - order a oil cooler plate to run my original oil pressure sending unit and a loop hose for an oil cooler in the future - put passenger side fender back on - mount 6.0 air box - tidy everything else up - take it to get tuned correctly - dyno it while im there - go mudding and hopefully not break anything.

Re: 1991 V2500 Suburban

Glad to see you are back on this project.

I have my 87 V1500 running and movable now. I used the drivetrain from a 01 Z71 as well as all the wiring, instrument cluster, steering column, fuel pump et cetera in my swap. It isn't finished but I can start it and put around the yard!

Check out my build.

Anyways, I am at the point doing exhaust as well. I used Trailblazer SS manifolds which look almost identical to your hooker headers. I am interested to see how you do the exhaust.

I plan to plumb back into what I had when I had my TBI engine in there. It is just a 1 in 2 out flowmaster but it isn't old and all the piping and tips are in excellent shape.

I am doing all brand new from the hookers to the end, unfortunately the glasspack i had on the original stock exhaust doesn't have a name on it because i would buy 2 more of that brand but instead i am going with thrush stainless steel glasspacks.

As far as the progress goes i finally got the drive shaft back and it fits so now i am working on getting the exhaust stuff nailed down, i don't trust the exhaust shops welding jobs because they aren't welders they are just people with a welder so hopefully they will tack it up for me and i can weld it out then i can continue onward.
