What am I doing wrong??!!!!

I have a 10 bolt from a chevy II nova and decided to updrade to disc brakes from the 98-02 LS1. My problem is for the life of me I can't get the spider gear pin out to rempve the axels. I've spent the last 6 hours trying to get this $Q#$@$^#%$ out! Short of dynamite, does anyone have any ideas?

Re: What am I doing wrong??!!!!

Did you remove the retaining bolt that goes through it from the side?

Just checking...

Ted.

Did all of the retaining bolt come out? It should have a half rounded point on the end of the shaft 3\4 or longer from the threads on the bolt. And it is common for them to break. Good Luck Jay

I'd agree it's pretty common for that pin to break and have a piece stuck in the carrier.

Re: What am I doing wrong??!!!!

The pin definitely broke off. Spent the whole day trying to get the darned thing out. Found out it's not a good idea to use a hammer. This rear end's toast! Just happened to remember that I had another spare laying around. It's also a ten bolt but from a Camaro. It's about four inches wider but I was using two inch spacers anyway. The spring perches are even in the right spot. Talk about lucky!
