New 5.3 no heat

Recently blew the original 5.3 in my 2000 z71 due to sludge. I recently had a new motor put back in and now i have no heat. I am 2 hours away from the mechanic that did the work so i don't want to drive down there if i can fix it myself. I believe that i have air in the cooling system and was wanting to know how i can purge or bleed this system.

Re: New 5.3 no heat

the way i bleed the sytem is to leave the cap off and turn the heat on full blast and run the truck about 2k rpms untill the heat blows hot and the temp is normal on the gauge

Re: New 5.3 no heat

some times the 5.3 are very stubborn thats why we vacume fill at the dealer

sometimes if you just fill the overflow and hop on the freeway it will suck it down into the engine.

sometimes dangerouse to the engine but works

Re: New 5.3 no heat

I can't add to your heat issue, but would you mind divulging what the engine cost (and where it came from) and how much the swap was?

Re: New 5.3 no heat

Curious how you developed sludge. Short trips and what brand of oil?
