X-box 360 vs PS3
Hi Guys:
I am not a game guy and I don't know anything about games. It is my wife's B-day and she loves electronic games. Besides everything else I am planing, I was thinking about one of these games. which one is better or basically what is the difference?

Re: X-box 360 vs PS3
I like the ps3 a lot better than xbox360, i owned a old xbox and still have it and like it and thought about buying a new system but my bro beat me to it with his ps3. We play his ps3 all the time, basically whenever i go over there thats what we do or whenever im house sitting for them, another of my friends was debating on getting a ps3 or xbox360 and he went with the ps3 and loves it also, he buys games so much he barely plays them before getting a new one. Both my brother in law and my buddy are huge into gaming and electronics and they always do a lot of research before buying a new system and all around the ps3 was a better deal and till this day they both love there ps3. They both have had Wii's also, my bro in law sold his but my buddy still has his Wii and those are a lot of fun to. Its basically just depends on what you want and looking for in a system.

Re: X-box 360 vs PS3
I've had both and prefer the xBox360 simply because there seems to be more mature players and less "mommy bought little johnny" a game he shouldn't be playing.

Re: X-box 360 vs PS3
It really depends on what you want out of the system. If you are into playing online, you can't beat the 360. It requires a subscription, but it's well worth the money it costs. You can play online with a PS3 free of charge; however, you get what you pay for, and conversely, you don't get what you don't pay for either. The PS3 offers Blu-Ray. For some people that doesn't matter. I had both and when I went through my divorce, I had to pick. It might sound silly, but it was a really hard decision to make. I chose the PS3, but I really miss my 360. In a perfect world, I'd tell you to get both, but if I had to choose I'd vote for the 360.

Re: X-box 360 vs PS3
I have both and I imensley prefer the xbox 360. To be honest this question is worse than the Chevy vs Ford, or Coke vs Pepsi and everybody has there (strong) opinions.
to be honest for somebody that is not into gaming I would go for the ps3, only because it has a blu ray player. if you don't have hdtv then I would go with a wii. if you already have the blu ray then I would go with the xbox 360. |

Re: X-box 360 vs PS3
Do you have any systems now? Does she remember Nintendo? I ask that in all seriousness. My wife one day saw mario fruit snacks at the store and commented how she loved to play it.
We ended up getting an original nintendo with super mario bros/duck hunt, excitebike, and mario bros pinball. She has had a blast and I've enjoyed it too. In fact, I want to buy Contra now because that was my favorite game growing up. Will do the code for unlimited lives (I still remember) and beat the game once and then probably never play again...but I want to do it again for fun My daughters also really enjoy it and it's simple enough for my 3yr old to enjoy....she especially likes duck hunt Your wife might find it really sentimental as my wife has. We also have an xbox (original one...not 360) and I was pretty highly ranked in xbox live for a while in Halo2. Have a brother in law who was in the top 25 in the world for a while....and always played on his team I was really good with the sniper rifle and throwing grenades and he was unbeatable in close combat situations so we worked well as a team.

Re: X-box 360 vs PS3
I own a ps3 and I think its a lot better then the 360. Imo the 360 has a lot of things on it that I don't need or want and the ps3 is short and simple it works great and I have played both games and seen both graphics and I think the ps3 controller is easyer to use to hold and to lean the button lay out and the graphics on the ps3 look better imo that and the ps store is easy to use and finding things is easy the home screen on the ps3 is stright forward. The 360 home screen seems mushed together and hard to find wat ur looking for. Idk there's a lot of things I like about my ps3 and the best of all is ps3 customer service is the best I have delt with. Coming from a guy who plays games at least 40 hours a week.

Re: X-box 360 vs PS3
if I had to only buy one right now it'd be a PS3...and I own a 360, N64, and original playstation. So as you can see I have absolutely no brand loyalty LOL.
Back when the choice was PS2 or 360, the 360 was king. Now with the choice between PS3 and 360 I feel like the PS3 still comes out ahead by a little bit.

Re: X-box 360 vs PS3
Wow, Ford vs Chevy and X-box vs PS3. This is very intresting to me. Please consider that I am not a game person. Anyways, thank all of you for all the inputs. Let me give some more info then it may make it easier to decide. My wife plays online games about 1-2 hours a day, almost every day. I can't seat in one place specially infront of computer that long. Some times she asks me to join her for a game but again, even 24" monitor is too small for me. Also, she has mentioned about the excersie/sport games that they advertise on TV which family do together which I think both systems have them (?!). That's why.
I totally undrestand now, that was a good example: ford vs chevy. Just preferance, right?

Re: X-box 360 vs PS3
They are both amazing systems. I will tell you up front that I am a Playstation fan. I have a PSone PS2 and PS3. The main reason I bought my PS3 was because it has a built in BluRay player which is awesome on my HDTV. Gaming wise, both systems have good console exclusive games and comparable graphics. There are also tons of great games that are multi-console. Gaming systems these days are so technologically advanced that it is almost impossible for one system to be the "best". I prefer the PS3 controller to the xbox 360, but this is partially due to the fact that the controller hasn't changed in appearance since the PSone and I am used to it.
Here is a good article comparing the two consoles from a technical perspective: http://gear.ign.com/articles/111/1116182p1.html

Re: X-box 360 vs PS3
Ps3 has free online play, i will admit there are a lot of "little brats" when playing online but there easy to mute and continue playing for free. I have no brand loyalty with gaming systems, i like them all but if i ever bought one itd be the ps3. The new Grand Tourismo game that just came out is simpily awesome and if you want a less realistic drivng game they have them too(both styles are a lot of fun), my bro in law downloads all the free demos then when i come over he has me play them all to see which ones we both like. The ps3 has the hook ups now where its like the wii but you have to pay extra for those of course. The wireless controlers for the ps3 are awesome also, the feel right and last a long time before needing a recharge. I like xbox because of Halo games but after playing "time splitters future perfect" halo just cant compete with it.

Re: X-box 360 vs PS3
I had PS1, PS2, wanted PS3 but when they first came out they were to exspensive so I bought a 360. Well after 2 Xbox's in a 2.5 year span I said good bye to the 360 and bought a PS3. Couldnt be happier, I use the PS3 for the internet, so being free is nice and the games play bout the same. It's really up to you. I know people that have had good luck with the 360 and bad luck.

Re: X-box 360 vs PS3
Wii. Assuming she doesn't already have one. I've got a 360, played plenty of PS3, and for a swiss army knife console, the Wii is my favorite. Simply for the different stuff you can download, and the virtual arcade.
For the Xbox 360, or PS3. Honestly, they both have problems, they both have games you can only get on one, and they both cost near the same. I'd look at what games are exclusive, how much it will cost to get a usable setup. Another thing to consider is do you want a Blu Ray player. Pretty sure they will both do things like Netflix.

Re: X-box 360 vs PS3
Not only that, but Halo and Halo two CAN be played on the 360. Most ps3's. and any that you buy now don't have backward compatibility, so you better keep your ps2.
Unless you are going to use it as a blu ray player, the 360 is by far the better system. the controller is way more ergonomical than the ps3 controller. and the interface is way more user friendly. It also has Kinect. the best motion/excersize games are on kinect right now. way better than wii. I'm starting to sound like a fanboy. I do actually have all 3 current generation video game systems. and the xbox360 gets 99% of use. the ps3 got stuck in the bedroom as a 2nd blu ray, and is used for ps3 exclusives, like Uncharted (which is great btw.) |

Re: X-box 360 vs PS3
We have the xbox360, ps2, ps3 and wii.. the ps3 gets used the most, only because the games we have for it are the kids favs.. Personally I like the wii the best. We have had issues out of the 360, the red light of death has hit 2x now.. thankfully both times under warranty, but it is something to consider.. google it, its way to common

Correction. Xbox 360 has ALL of the Halo series. Backwards compatibility FTW. PS3? not so much.
